Group Therapy

The Garnethill Centre continues to offer group therapy as a means to achieve a healthier integration as an individual in your network of relationships.

About Group Therapy

Group therapy offers an opportunity to explore issues, conflicts and problems in a safe and confidential environment. Groups provide a chance to learn from each other and to receive feedback and support. There is an opportunity for members to understand themselves and their relationships with others more deeply and to discover new solutions to old problems. The centre has two groups that meet each week and are run by an experienced Group Therapist

Regularity and Scope

The groups meet once weekly. Each group session lasts 90 minutes. The groups meet every week except for breaks at Easter, the summer holidays and Christmas. The experience of group therapy has been found to be most useful for people who intend to work on a thorough understanding of themselves and their situation.

Fees: Sessions are weekly but the cost is £120 per month (i.e. the fee covers all sessions held within a given month). A subsidy within certain limits can be considered where the cost is prohibitive.

FAQs

  • The experience of group therapy has been found to be most useful for people who intend to work on a thorough understanding of themselves and their situation. Should you wish to consider joining one of our groups, the process ordinarily requires attending an initial (assessment) session with one of our therapists after which, if you wish to join a group, a free consultation with the group conductor who facilitates our therapy groups is arranged with a view to exploring group therapy more fully and to consider whether it may be of benefit to you. If you already have significant experience of undertaking therapy, it may be possible to proceed directly to the free consultation without the need to attend the aforementioned initial assessment session which costs £55.
